Alejo Castro is a fifth-generation Costa Rican coffee producer farming at Finca Volcán Azul near Volcán Poás in Alajuela, at elevations of 1,600–1,700 masl. He oversees four farms across Costa Rica's West and Central Valley region, cultivating more than 27 varieties including Mokka, SL28, and Geisha, with more than half of production processed using innovative anaerobic and other experimental methods. Castro won the 2017 Cup of Excellence and is recognized for pushing varietal diversity and processing precision in Costa Rican specialty coffee.
