Coffee producer

Adam Overton & Rachel Samuel

Active origin: Ethiopia
Adam Overton and Rachel Samuel are Australian-born founders of Gesha Village Estate, a 471-hectare coffee farm established in 2011 in the remote Bench Maji Zone of southwestern Ethiopia, approximately 20 km from the Gori Gesha wild coffee forest — the origin of the Gesha variety. They planted wild Gesha seeds selected from that forest alongside 30,000 native shade trees on the estate at around 2,000 masl, growing to over 700,000 trees under an agroforestry model. Gesha Village is considered one of Ethiopia's most important specialty estates and is a leading source of named Gori Gesha variety lots for high-end specialty roasters worldwide.
