Some dream of a photo with Lewandowski I’ve been dreaming about this coffee all my life! Or more precisely, when I visited the Aquiares farm in Costa Rica. Thanks to this visit, everything came together beautifully – and voila, you have this package in front of you! The Mariana botanical variety is still a fresh gem for me – maybe for you too? So it’s worth pouring some geek sauce on it: Mariana is one of those coffee varieties that show that botany can be combined with a bit of madness and innovation. It is an F1 hybrid, a close relative of Starmaya, created by combining IAPAR 59 and a unique Ethiopian local variety, which – interestingly – is male sterile, i.e. it does not produce seeds on its own. But it is thanks to this that Mariana can be grown from seeds, which is quite a revolution, because most F1 hybrids have to be multiplied by cloning in the laboratory. And here you go – top-
