About

Verve Coffee Roasters was founded in 2007 by Ryan O'Donovan and Colby Barr in Santa Cruz, California, where it remains independently owned and roasts coffee by hand. The company operates a direct trade program called the Farmlevel Initiative, building partnerships with producers and paying quality premiums. Verve runs cafes across Santa Cruz, Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Tokyo, and was named Roast Magazine's Macro Roaster of the Year in 2024.
