ORIGIN Although Colombia is the third largest producer of coffee in the world after Brazil and Vietnam; the country still exports a staggering nine million bags of coffee approximately per year. Colombia’s size alone contributes to a diverse range of cup profiles due to plentiful variations in microclimates created by mountainous terrain, nutrient-rich soils, proximity to the Equator, good rainfall and of course, differences in varieties and processing techniques. This coffee is cultivated by farmers around Gaitania village located near Santiago Perez, Atacamo, in the coffee region of Tolima situated in the centre-west of the country.
