Origin Our newest espresso comes to us from Hospura Estate, located in Chikmagalur, India. India is best known for its robusta production, but has in recent years brought more arabica lots to the specialty coffee market. India’s arabica species originate from the Central Coffee Research Institute in Karnataka, whose work is focused on creating hybrid varieties that are better suited to India’s terroir. Project In India, coffee-growing practices have often tended to contribute to deforestation, with devastating consequences for local ecosystems. Kaadkaapi works from the principle that coffee trees thrive in biodiverse environments. The cooperative has therefore encouraged its partner producers to adopt a new way of growing coffee, where it thrives in harmony with the ecosystem rather than in opposition to it.
