ORIGIN Peru is major coffee producing country in South America flanked by the mighty Andes which runs the length of the country. Benefitting from high elevations, good rainfall and rich biodiversity, its thriving coffee sector is well established and continues to support the livelihoods of millions of smallholder producers. In addition, the country’s lush highlands and good heirloom varieties offer the potential for growers to overcome the obstacles of limited infrastructure and market access as quality, production and demand increases. Sourced through our exporting partners at Falcon Coffees Peru, the 20-plus-strong team has built a sourcing platform that revolves around two northern warehouses—Jaén and Moyobamba—which works directly with more than 500 smallholder producers and eight cooperatives across botgh regions.
